That’s It
Well a lot has happen since the last update; I’ve finished
the last two projects and done the exam. So that means no more Uni and now
looking for a job. I’ve completed a modelling,
compositing and geranlist showreel, which I’ll post below.
I’m currently working on my website which should be up and running
soon, so watch this space.

Two down, Two to go
Since the last update i've handed in my Innovations project, called Camouflage in Animation. For this project I looked into how to create camouflage ability in Computer Animation. My aim was to create a camouflage ability without having to create any extra assets (e.g. textures) to make the character blend into its environment. I found four different techniques to achieve this, so working better than others. For the handin of the project I needed to create a video showing the artifacts which were created and a making of video. This video is shown below:

One Down Three To Go
Since the last update I’ve completed and
handed in my Master Class project. The Master Class project was to design and
create a monster for a imaginary game called “The Monster Files”. This was the
brief s description the game “A
weighty tome detailing all manner of abhorrent creatures that should not be. Create
a disgusting, horrific beast to be included. (PS3 level fantastical style –
take nature and disgustify it)” I was allowed 10,000 polys, four colour, normal and specular maps at a max of
512x512 resolution.
I had a meeting with the Martin Binfield from
Sony to critique my model and to chat about the character. I got some great
advice that helped me produced my final character. For part of the hand in I
needed to create two videos, the first was the character in a T-pose with both wireframe
and then in textured model. The second was the model textured in a dynamic
pose. The videos below show both of the videos I created for the hand in.
Other
projects are going well, it’s the Innovations hand in next and I’m on schedule.

Getting me started
Ok, Massive post dump. This is my first post so need to get everything updated and set myself off running. I've got three projects going on at the moment for my Uni course; Major, Innovations and Masterclass. So first off is the Major project.
Major Project
The major project i'm working on is called Diva Dreams with Olly Fisk. We're focusing on the look of the animation over the animating of the character. This is down to myself wanting to become a 3D modeller, so i'm doing all the modelling for the project and Olly wants to go into look development, so he's focusing on concept pieces, textures and lighting. We're both gonna share all the other jobs for the project. So I've modelled environments and the Diva character for the project so far, with the blend shapes for the Diva being worked on at the moment. Pictures below show the models I Created.

Innovations
The second project is my Innovations project. For the project I'm looking into a chameleon camouflage and I'm going to try to recreate it in Maya. I've Started Modelling the chameleon model, and tested two techniques to recreate the camouflage. The First was an image plane projection technique, which worked well, but it could make the model completely invisible. The second technique was a texture projection technique which I projected a texture through a light. This technique worked well because you were able to still see the model even thought the model and background have the same texture. The second technique I will be researching in more detail. The images below shows the two tests and a work in progress on the Chameleon model.

Last but no means least the masterclass project. The Masterclass project I decided on was the Sony character design project. For this project I had to chose one of three imaginary videogames and design a character which would fit into the game world. The game I decided to go for was "The Monster Files" where I had to create a monster based on real life animals. After loads (and loads) of drawing I created Salientia (which means “to jump” in Latin). I created the concept designs needed and have been emailed off to the lecturer and Sony which I'm now awaiting feedback on. But on this christmas holiday I decided to get started on the base mesh of the model which I have nearly finished. Images below are from this project:

That's pretty much everything up to date. Got a presentation on monday for the major project, which is for lectures and Kevan and Robyn Shorey from Dreamworks. So hoping for some good feedback from them.
